Spent a low-key Saturday evening enjoying the creative works of some of the world’s best illustrators at The Society of Illustrators of Los Angeles 54th Annual Illustration West
Illustration West is an annual competition and exhibition highlighting the year’s best illustration – both from L.A. and from all around the world. SILA is proud to represent established and emerging artists and demonstrate that this continues to be an exciting era for illustration.
The Society of Illustrators of Los Angeles was founded in 1953 by a handful of Southern California advertising artists and designers primarily to promote the professional status of illustration art as well as foster both philanthropic and educational goals.
Out of 1300 submissions, 267 original pieces by 139 artists were accepted into the show with several winning awards that night for excellence among peers.
My favorite piece of the exhibit was Tran Nguyen’s Traveling To a Distant Day, which won best of show that evening.
The exhibit will be open from November 7 – December 4, 2015, and is located in the Pop Secret Gallery at 5119 Eagle Rock Blvd., Los Angeles, CA.
